Instructional Support Counselor

LSA’s Instructional Support Counselor position serves the purpose(s) of providing support to the instructional program, guidance program, and exceptional student program.


  • Along with other counselors, assesses, plans and executes plans to meet social/emotional needs of
    student body.

  • Leads the MTSS process and communicates MTSS plans to other counselors, teachers and parents.

  • Creates academic and behavior support plans for students identified through the MTSS process.

  • Serves as the 9th grade counselor.

  • Along with counselors and administration, help plan and execute training for peer mentors.

  • Requirements

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations and must be able to withhold confidential

  • Ability to respond to changing situations in the workplace and exhibit flexibility.

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently under varying deadlines and adapt to changing work

  • Ability to set work priorities, take initiative, and work efficiently under minimum supervision.

  • Ability to work individually with students, parents, and staff utilizing appropriate strategies to encourage success in the total school environment.
