Piedmont Charter students collect nearly 6,000 cans for needy

From their annual canned food and blood drives to special projects like the Hurricane Disaster Relief for Lumberton, Piedmont Community Charter School students learn first hand the importance of doing for others.
The elementary campus has just wrapped up its annual canned food drive for Salvation Army’s Catherine Booth location in Gastonia.
“I continue to be amazed and humbled by our school family,” said Holly White, director. “I can’t even begin to put gratitude into words. The official count is about 6,000 cans. I told the kids today I’d be letting them duct tape me to the wall.”
