Not long ago, most kids who played sports also learned how to be a good sport. Now it sometimes seems that the pressure to win has turned every Little League game into the World Series.
 
To help your child learn how to be a good sport:
 

  • Remember that “Fun is Number One.”   If everyone is having fun, both winning and losing seem less important.
  •  

  • Make sure your child knows the rules … and plays by them.
  •  

  • Be a good sport yourself.   Cheer for the whole team, not just your child.   Don’t argue with the coach or the referee.   Treat opponents with respect.
