“Excellent Public Schools Act”

State Senate Leader Phil Berger on Monday unveiled an education reform package that Republicans in the Senate believe will improve student literacy and graduation rates and reward effective teachers with better pay or bonuses.

“We are serious about reforming K-12 public education in North Carolina,” Berger, a Rockingham County Republican, said at a news conference Monday afternoon.
